I know we all want to just be artists but the reality is we have to self-promote in order to live. Every artist dreams of getting an agent, but know this; agents don't want to take you on unless you already have clients. It takes too much time and money to develop someone's career. Agencies aren't in business to be saint saving career shapers. They are in business to make money and they can't easily do that if you don't have a book, a strong resume, or existing clients. They are hoping they can build upon what you already have. Otherwise, you are just dead weight to them.......
